As the battered companions stare at the (momentarily) stunned priestess, Corwin approaches her, looks up at her, tickles her her nose, and says "To slaughter a foe helpless such as she...Such is for cowards. Wot's more, she's worth more to us alive than dead. Some of you (he looks about at the group) hold a grudge, that much is obvious. That said, we're not here to satisfy our petty egos. If we're to save this city we've so graciously agreed to protect we'll be needing to squeeze (he pats the priestess's bottom) every bit o information we can. We can gag her, blind her, string her up...so as the only thing she'll be able to cast is her shadow...And deliver her to the local powers that be and let them put the real squeeze upon her. Frankly, if they canna' manage that this city ain't worth saving regardless. So that's me two coppers worth. I'm new here.

"I am afraid I must disagree. Those calling for her end are no cowards but 'Wise enough to be afraid. To understand, at least in part.' what this creature is capable of. While she may be of some small use as an informant, her sins against Maab and the natural order of life and death demand her swift and immediate end. If you value the information she MAY hold so highly then there must be something you are willing to deal to save it."

I can understand that the cavalier (which is probably Lawful Good) would have a problem with killing the EVIL mistress. Adrian "The Strong Arm of Ares" boldly suggests that: 1. ALL of her gear be removed. 2. She must be firmly bound & gaged to prevent escape or spell casting. 3. She should be taken to the city for interrogation AND be put on immediately trial for her crimes. 4. If she is sentenced to death we will request that there be a public execution (to boost the morale of the city) and that Puck (friend of Maab) be allowed to personally conduct the public execution. 5. The care/handling/transportation of the evil priestess to the city will be assigned to the CAVALIER and that he understands that she is entirely HIS responsibility and if she escapes or causes ANY more deaths he accepts FULL responsibilities. This could include a Quest to find her and either bring her back or personally kill her himself (if she is already under a death sentence by the city for her crimes against its citizens or she causes more deaths.)
Note: I really don't like players that threaten to QUIT a game if it doesn't go their way. If the cavalier wants to defend the helpless mistress .... I can understand that and I can appreciate a player playing to their alignment. However, his character can choose to leave the group and he could come back with a different character with a different alignment. Thus the reason why I tend to require players of my D&D games in the past to play GOOD alignments in order to prevent character in game conflicts which happened at the end of this game. However, this is David's game and he does allow for the different alignments and we have to work with that. (My character is Neutral by the way.) Also, being a priest of WAR I can also understand that bringing the Mistress back to the city for interrogation which could result in discovering future battle information/plans which seems somewhat of a good idea. But Adrian thought that a swift and honorable death for her on the battlefield would have been much better than being brought back to the city in disgrace for (a show) trial (even though it would probably boost the morale of the city defenders knowing that a top officer of the Son of Dark was brought to justice and the reputation of The Adventuring Dead would be increased.) Just my 2 gold pieces

I agree with Todd, but I'm currently unconscious so my vote may not count.

***is currently helping Bob the Portering Priest of Athena as he was smacked by a dome of stone of his own creation...
The Mistress must undoubtedly pay for her crimes against the city. In this situation, we are (or at least those immediately around her) her judge and jury. With the current state of the city as it is under siege and half-covered by a lake (oops) in the dead of winter with little hope for food, clean water, and survival beyond a week -- who there will be able to objectively provide for a jury and run a honest trial? Can we offer the same here in the field? If there is a thought of vengeance among us then the hoped-for fair trial is also lost should we hold it here.
Although I am not aware of what she may have done prior to when I joined this group, I can vouch for some of her evil acts. She has been part of this assault on the city at the head of an army of undead. I don't need a trial to determine her punishment. She has proved her devotion to evil and a thwart to that which I hold most dear. I do not need a jury to decide her fate, especially considering that a jury in Salhantar itself would be tainted by pain and vengeance. I know what is the right course of action and it is one that I see as inevitable whatever path it takes to get there. Her use as a tool to boost morale in Salhantar will be limited. The only thing that will boost the morale of Salhantar will be the promise of food and shelter -- surviving the winter. I do not find her as a possible use for morale as a worthy concern nor do I see it as promoting anything good. It will merely provide a focus for the revenge of the people of Salhantar when their focus should be on rebuilding and not revenge.
I can agree to taking her back for a jury, but only if she is taken to another city for the jury. Perhaps we can take her to Elaurim as events settle down. Keep her imprisoned (bound/gagged and wearing only what we provide) until Salhantar is on the way to recovery and then escort her to Elaurim. [Elaurim is a city 2-3 days travel to the south for those without a map -- David, please correct this information if my distance/time estimation is off]
She will pay for her crimes -- whether it is now, here, in the field or later on a noose. Of that I am not concerned. Regarding her, good will triumph.
I would prefer a trial, but I do not see a fair one occurring in a short amount of time. The flip side to that is the longer we hold her, the more chance of escape she has thus letting her work more evil in the future. We are dealing with a person (Son of Dark) that can seemingly create portal gates and I do not think it would be difficult for him to free her. Whatever we decide, it must be acted upon as quickly as possible to avoid her release.

I must agree there will be no "fair" trail and with her being the son of darks right hand he will move to free her keeping her alive will only draw him in to attack the gaurd and free her but if you (point at cavalar) wish to save her you should be her full time guard and be fully responsible for her the only reasonable choice I see is kill her remove her head and destroy it so the son will have that much more difficulties resurrection of her if at all but I am not from here and know What all the higher power magically talented can do

Just so I can keep this straight, maybe people should put there real names and character names on here before they get to their statement. That way we know who says what. I am Lawrence, my character is Barad-Dur the cavalier.

Amyntas (neutral good psionicist) = Jason Bob (priest of Athena) = Brandon Adrian (priest of Ares) = Todd Puck (naked wild mage) = Victor Daron (not-elf thief archer) = Roy Dwarven crusader (don't recall character name) = John Cleric of Maab (don't recall character name) = Aaron
**Edit: added my character's alignment.

Puck: (assuming we are still in the battlefield) I spoke to rashly, please allow me to explain myself, but first, a query: why should we seek mercy, for a merciless being?
This abomination, that calls herself 'Mistress' has caused many deaths within the Guild of the Adventuring Dead. These are a few:
- I want to say we lost 5 to 6 guild members (not PC), during the our attempt at resealing the Catacombs. Now, the Catacombs, was the final resting place of the 'Son of Dark'. His slain corpse laid there, after his humiliating and dishonorable defeat, never to rise, however, I feel, without a doubt, that it was the 'Mistress', and her hand that revived the disgusting creature.
-Our Priest of Athena, was once a humble campanion, belonging to a great preist of Athena, with unfathomable courage. His blade swung true, and seeked to wrong evil. however, He unfortunately met the 'Mistress' and her shadows in battle. There he fought bravely, and unwaveringly, until he was felled. His body lay wrangled on the floor cold. On that Day, no MERCY was shown. There was no debate, no talks of court, or reasoning. Death was forcefully forced unto him, without apology, or hesitation.
-I, myself, have tasted death, and felt its cold embrace, due to her followers actions. However, thanks to the grace of Maab, I was allowed a second chance, and I will tell you now, the Finality of Death offers only oblivion to those who succumb. And many have succumb, to cold, famine, and death from unnatural means. Many more will suffer, because of HER actions. Creatures, that normal men cannot touch, creatures that instill fear into every soul, and creatures that steal the very life and soul from a mere touch.
Is she truly derserving of Mercy? Do you think that she would afford any of us a fair trial? She worships death, and death is the only currency she deals with. to waste resources on her, is to the detriment of our fallen comrades.
And the Worse offense of all, is that she chose to worship Hades instead of Maab.
Every breath she takes, is an attack on my honor.

Perhaps we should have a vote on whether the Mistress of Hades lives or dies?
Adrian (being of Neutral alignment) does not really care what happens to her; but he still feels that an honorable death upon the battlefield would be far better than dragging her back to the city in disgrace. To display her head high upon a pike would be a worthy WAR trophy to bring back so the city inhabitants so that they can share in our great victory (thus raising morale) and also the reputation of The Adventuring Dead as an adventuring group that should respected. It probably was the Mistress that brought back the Son of Dark (as Puck stated) and her crimes against the citizens cannot be denied or contested. She has killed many and has attempted to kill the members of the Adventuring Dead.
Adrain - Strong Arm of Ares (Being of Neutral alignment) will abstain and WILL NOT VOTE should a vote be taken. I care not for her fate - for a person's view on good and evil is always dependent upon one's beliefs in life. (However, in a weird sick way Adrian does appreciate the GREAT war with the Son of Dark; because he has the chance to truly serve his god Ares and test his metal upon the glorious fields of battle.) (Perhaps he should thank the Mistress instead? lolol)

The last thing I want, is to alienate a player, or force them to leave a group.
I really like the cavalier, and killing the 'Mistress' would not equate to having a player leave.
So I am not closed only to killing. I am willing to change so that everything remains peaceful.
However, that being said, Puck would really want her to die, a violent, and disturbing death.
She has stolen my life once, and she has assaulted my honor; her debts must be paid.
